Heidelberg Materials Socli is the only quarry in Europe offering a complete range of four Natural Hydraulic Limes: NHL 2 – Feebly hydraulic, NHL 3.5 (White & Old White) – Moderately hydraulic, NHL 5 – Eminently hydraulic. This unique selection enables the production of the widest range of high-quality NHL pre-mixed mortars, renders, and plasters, ideal for conservation, restoration, and new construction.
The lower strength of Natural Hydraulic Lime mortars compared with Portland cement based mortars allows pre-mixes to be produced which complement the lower strengths of many natural stone and soft brick applications whilst improving plasticity and retaining a high level of cohesion with low shrinkage.
The Ironstone Mortar range has been developed in partnership between Heidelberg Materials Socli and the UK based lime manufacturer Womersley’s Limited.
Ironstone Mortars, Renders and Plasters are manufactured with Heidelberg Materials Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) binders blended with carefully selected kiln dried sands to create a range of pre-mixed NHL products which are natural, breathable, sustainable and Durable.
All the sands are pre-washed to remove sediment before being dried, ensuring reduced shrinkage. The mortars, renders and plasters are naturally coloured and batch blended for consistency.
The Ironstone NHL range of pre-mixed products have been created by a team of qualified professionals and manufactured at a purpose-built facility. They are all CE compliant, and the facilities are ISO 9001:2015 accredited for design, manufacture and supply.
